An initial search in South Sulawesi province, a densely forested and mountainous region, found no trace of the missing woman. During the search, Farida's husband found some of her belongings, “which made him suspicious,” Rossi said.

Villagers searched the area near where Farida found the items and “soon discovered a big-bellied python,” the village chief told AFP.
