Today is the Ride Don’t Hide Payton and Dillon Budd Memorial Ride in Kelowna, B.C.
Participants choose the length and difficulty of their rides and walks, ranging from 6km to 100km, and raise money for mental health resources. Most participants take part in the 50km route.
“It was an amazing ride, we had over 616 participants and raised nearly $160,000 for mental health services in Kelowna,” said Sarah Wallace of the Canadian Mental Health Association.

Wallace said this year they broke all records for rider numbers and money raised.
“Whether it’s mountain climbing or mental health, there’s always a struggle and sometimes you just keep going and actually get up those hills on the route,” Wallace said.
This was the eleventh year of the Ride Don’t Hide charity fundraiser, which concluded with a celebration at Sutherland Park.
“We’ve expanded our post-holiday activities this year,” Wallace said. “There’s more entertainment, more food trucks and things for the kids to do.”
The Payton and Dillon Budd Memorial Ride aims to spark conversation about mental health and invites participants to share their stories.
