Toronto expects increased police presence at 'Walk with Israel' event and related protests - Toronto | Globalnews.ca

Toronto police say they will step up security for Israel parades and related protests this weekend, warning that anyone involved in criminal activity will be arrested.

Police said the United Jewish Appeal will hold its annual “Walk with Israel” event on Sunday, which will include a five-kilometer walk and a festival.

They said they had received information indicating that some protesters were planning to disrupt the event.

Police said they respected the right to peaceful assembly and would set up designated areas for protesters “to avoid clashes.”

They said officers from various other police forces would also be present.

Police said anyone engaging in criminal activity, including harassment or intimidation, could be arrested.
