A group of southern Alberta ranchers is making a last-ditch effort to stop a coal Adventure in the Rockies.
Ranchland Municipal District Mayor Ron Davis said his council will re-apply to the Court of Appeal to appeal the provincial energy regulator's decision to accept the application.
The announcement came a day after the Alberta Energy Regulator announced it would not hear an appeal against the decision, in line with its own procedures.

The regulator announced it will hold a public hearing on an application from an Australian company seeking to build an open-pit mine at Grassy Mountain in southwestern Alberta despite being rejected by provincial and federal environmental reviews.
Ranchland argued that regulators placed too much weight on a letter from the provincial energy minister supporting the application and failed to conduct their own analysis or listen to those opposed to the development.
