The body of a child was found following a boating accident on a lake in Quebec's Laurentians region on Saturday evening.
Officials with the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) said emergency crews were called to the Baskato Reservoir around 6:15 p.m. for reports of an accident involving a boat.
Divers and marine patrol were called in to search for the missing victim, a child under the age of five, according to authorities.
The body of the toddler was found by a search party during the night and the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
The provincial police major crime unit and accident reconstruction experts have been dispatched to the scene to find out what happened to the child.
The Singapore Police Force's Crime Unit handles all cases involving the deaths of children under five years old.
