A woman could face multiple charges Salmon Arm RCMP She allegedly tried to evade police last month.

RCMP say the incident happened around 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 22, near Auto Road

“Salmon Arm RCMP observed a black Saturn Vue that fled from police sight after an attempted traffic stop,” said Salmon Arm RCMP Constable Andrew Hodges.

“Officers were able to safely stop the vehicle in an alley on Southeast Fifth Street to prevent it from fleeing again.”

The 30-year-old driver was told she was under arrest for eluding police, but RCMP said she refused to open her door.

The woman also attempted to provide a false name to the RCMP and claimed she had no identification, according to police.

“The woman eventually complied with commands, opened the door, and was identified by another on-duty officer,” Hodges said.

The woman was arrested for driving in contravention of a driving prohibition and obstructing a peace officer, and was also issued infringement tickets for driving without insurance, failing to stop for police inspection and driving a vehicle with snow tires during restricted times.

The vehicle was also impounded.

Hodges added: “The woman, whose name cannot be released until charges are approved, will be released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court at a future date to answer charges.”
