The mental state of a self-confessed serial killer is expected to be the focus of a Winnipeg murder trial after a judge agreed to hear testimony from a forensic psychiatrist and a YouTuber.
Jeremy Skibicki, 37, has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder in the 2022 killings of four Indigenous women in Winnipeg.
Skibic's lawyers acknowledged that he killed the two women but argued that he should not be criminally responsible because of mental illness.
Dr. Sohom Das from the United Kingdom assessed Skibic's mental state twice.
The court heard that Das had provided analysis for civil and criminal cases in the UK and was known as an expert in mental illness and crime.

Prosecutors objected to Das' testimony and pointed to a YouTube video describing how to fake mental illness, casting doubt on his credibility.
