Winnipeg Pride celebrations continue with rally, parade - Winnipeg | Globalnews.ca

Downtown Winnipeg will be packed with people today for the city's annual Pride parade.

The celebrations kicked off with a rally at the Manitoba Legislative Building around 10 a.m.

The parade begins at 11 a.m. and moves along Memorial Boulevard to Portage Avenue, through the intersection of Portage and Main streets, and then along William Stephenson Road to Blue Cross Park.

The City of Winnipeg announced several road closures to coincide with the parade route, including westbound Broadway from Edmonton Street to Memorial Drive, Memorial Drive from Broadway to York Drive, northbound Memorial Drive from York Drive to St. Mary's Drive, eastbound Portage Drive from Memorial Drive to Main Street, southbound Main Street from Portage Drive to William Stephenson Road, and eastbound William Stephenson Road from Main Street to Israel Asper Road.

These closures are from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Sunday's parade was just Tight schedule of activities Organized by Pride Winnipeg.

Organizers kicked off Pride Month yesterday with the Treaty 1 Transgender Parade from the provincial legislature to The Forks.

The crowd gathered to celebrate the transgender community and support continued advocacy for transgender rights.

The event aligns with this year’s Winnipeg Pride theme of “Transcending Together”.

Just a few days ago, the provincial government passed a bill designating March 31 as Two-Spirit Day and Transgender Day of Visibility.
