The Winnipeg Fire and Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to two structure fires overnight.
The first fire occurred just after 9 p.m. Saturday when firefighters responded to a residence in the 600 block of Manitoba Ave. Upon arrival, heavy smoke could be seen coming from the house.
Crews entered the building and attacked the fire from the inside. The fire was out within 30 minutes.

Residents were able to evacuate before firefighters arrived and no injuries were reported. The fire remains under investigation
The second fire broke out at about 4:30 a.m. Sunday at another residential building in the 100 block of Yorkwood Avenue. Firefighters assessed the scene and began attacking the fire from the exterior of the building, which they quickly brought under control.
Residents were able to evacuate before rescuers arrived on the scene, and firefighters also rescued a cat.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the fire was accidental and caused by an overheating battery.
