One week military training The exercise will begin later this week in Northumberland, Hastings and Prince Edward counties in central Ontario.

Ministry of National Defense and Canadian Armed Forces Members of the Canadian Special Forces Command will conduct training in various counties from June 12 to June 18.

The training will be specifically focused around the communities of Campbellford, Quinte West, Stirling, Tweed, Picton and Bellville.

Officials said residents may notice an “increased” number of military vehicles and aircraft, as well as uniformed and non-uniformed military personnel carrying firearms. There may also be noises associated with explosives and small firearms during training exercises – the result of “simulated and blank rounds and explosives.”

“Conducting military exercises in both urban and rural environments that are unfamiliar to our personnel enhances our professional skills and enables us to serve the national interest anywhere,” the military said.
