Today, a jury will begin hearing evidence against two men accused of conspiracy to murder during a border protest in Coutts, Alberta.
Anthony Olienick and Chris Carbert were arrested in February 2022 after the Royal Canadian Mounted Police found a cache of guns and ammunition in a trailer in the small border community.

Both suspects have been in custody since their arrest and have also been charged with mischief and possession of a dangerous weapon.
They will formally enter their pleas before prosecutors make their opening statements.
Crown prosecutors said they plan to call 23 witnesses, most of whom are members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
The blockade, part of protests against COVID-19 vaccine mandates held across the country, paralyzed the busy Canada-U.S. border crossing for more than two weeks.
The judge said the trial could last until mid-July.
