Transit workers say they have reached a "framework" agreement and TTC strike will be suspended | Globalnews.ca

Toronto transit workers union says 'framework agreement' reached Dealing with the TTC to avoid a strike and a near total shutdown of services.

Contract negotiations are entering their final stages, but ATU Local 113 says it has reached an agreement with the Toronto Transit Commission to temporarily suspend the strike while a final agreement is reached.

Wages, benefits and job security are the top issues the union is discussing in this round of negotiations.

The agency is seeking protections against contracting out the work to third parties and against the transfer of cross-border service to other transit operators in the Greater Toronto Area.

The strike would bring Canada's most populous city to a standstill, halting TTC subways, streetcars and buses while further congesting Toronto's already crowded roads.
