Toronto restaurant bans Zachary Quinto, accusing him of making the host cry | Globalnews.ca

If you ask the people who work at Manita restaurant in Toronto, actor Zachary Quinto great Star Trek, But his attitude in real life is unpleasant.

Quinto, 47, was banned from the Mediterranean-style cafe and bar after he arrived there on Sunday.

In a post on its Instagram page, the restaurant called Quinto a “terrible customer” and accused the American actor of shouting at staff. The restaurant claimed Quinto “shouted at our staff like a smug child after texting him twice to let him know his table was ready.”

Quinto also allegedly “refused to believe that empty tables in the restaurant were reserved for him, even though he was politely informed that they were already occupied.”

Manita said Quinto made one host cry and other diners at the small restaurant were also left “uncomfortable” by his apparent outburst.

“Mr Quinto, take your bad mood somewhere else, we have many lovely celebrities joining Manita, but you are not one of them,” the restaurant wrote.

In the caption of the post, Manita said Quinto was not the first “angry guest” to “take his anger out on our staff.”

“On behalf of restaurant workers everywhere, I say to all the other Zachary Quintos: We are not immune to criticism, but we will never be disparaged,” Manita concluded.

Quinto has not yet commented publicly on the matter. Representatives for the actor did not respond to inquiries from Global News.

It seems he went to Manita for dinner on his birthday. According to Quinto Instagram The actor reportedly traveled to Canada's Wonderland with friends earlier this month and thanked the park for providing him with an “incredible birthday adventure”.

That evening, he also uploaded a photo of himself dining at another nearby Toronto restaurant, the popular cocktail hotspot La Parisienne. In the photo, Quinto looked particularly grateful as he sat in front of his dessert, holding a candle, with his eyes closed and his hand on his heart.

In the comments on Manita's post, a slew of Torontonians praised the restaurant for standing up for its employees.

“Finally a company is speaking up for its employees,” one commenter wrote. “This happened to me before, but instead of speaking up for me, they fired me to avoid 'bad press.'”

Another netizen chided: “You are amazing, being a 'celebrity' shouldn't deprive you of basic manners and the way you treat others.”

Global News reached out to Manita for comment but has yet to receive a response.

A representative for Manita told the Toronto Star that Quinto will be banned from the restaurant “until we receive an acceptable Apologize“”.

Manita is a cafe, bar and one-stop artisan grocery store. The Ossington Ave. spot is popular for its “Mediterranean” food and cocktails.

Quinto's most famous role is Spock Star Trek Movies and his roles in TV series hero and American Horror Story.
