Southern Manitoba dry after heavy rains, but more rain to come - Winnipeg | Globalnews.ca

If you were caught in a sudden storm on Sunday, you’re not alone.

Environment and Climate Change Canada said the storm, which appeared to come out of nowhere, hit southern Manitoba, with Winnipeg being one of the hardest hit areas in terms of rainfall.


“Forks recorded 31.2 millimetres of snow, while the airport recorded 25.7 millimetres. This is one of the higher snowfall areas in the province,” lead forecaster Brad Vrolijk told 680 CJOB start.

Strong winds with gusts of up to 80 km/h also hit areas west of the Red River Valley during the storm, and the gloomy weather is expected to continue until Tuesday.

“A low pressure system is developing across Alberta today and will move quickly eastward overnight,” he said Monday.

“We could see more showers and thunderstorms hitting southern Manitoba by Tuesday morning.

“The weather will improve soon and it will clear up later today, but after that we can expect unsettled weather with some showers in the next day or two.”
