Two cars collide, one person killed Route 97 South TaoyuanB.C., Monday night.

The accident occurred around 10 p.m. and involved a motorcycle and a pickup truck. Since the accident happened in front of a nearby resident's home, it quickly caught his attention.

“I heard a loud bang,” said resident Edward Alves. “My house shook and I knew right away what happened because I've heard this kind of noise here before.”

Woman driving the wrong way on Highway 99 causes head-on collision


Alves said when he rushed outside, he saw a couple getting out of a truck, panicking.

Later, when he walked around the vehicle, he saw that it was badly damaged. A closer look revealed that one of the wheels of the motorcycle and the rider had fallen to the ground.

“I was trying to figure out what was going on,” he said. “It wasn’t until I got out of the truck and saw it was broken in half that I realized.”

“Then I saw the gentleman just lying on the ground. There was also a motorcycle tire there. These are the pieces I found. I don't know what happened to the motorcycle.”

Hope community comes together to support motorcycle accident victims


Alves said the rider died at the scene and police and paramedics arrived minutes later.

The resident said he had only lived in the area for 30 days but noted this was the third emergency call he had received in that time.

“My heart goes out to the victim's family,” said Alves, who as of Tuesday was still in shock.
