Johnson is one of many standouts who have found success in the playoffs.

Last month, Alberta Premier Danielle Smith challenged Texas Gov. Greg Abbott to a classic beef. Smith wagered that if the Oilers beat the Stars, Abbott would have to eat an Alberta rib on camera.

Last week, the Oilers defeated the Stars 2-1 in Game 6 of the best-of-seven series to claim the Campbell Cup.

In a video posted on social media platform X on Friday, Abbott conceded defeat to Smith.

On the table in front of him was a half-eaten steak from Burgardt's Butcher Shop in High River, Alberta.

“I have to tell you, I've had a few, and this is absolutely the best steak I've ever had in Canada,” Abbott said.

“(It) must have come from a cow that was raised in Texas.”

Smith also mocked Abbott in his response.

“I hope you enjoy delicious Alberta beef,” she said.

“Thank you for your generosity towards our bets, too!”

People have started placing new bets on the Stanley Cup Finals, which will see the Oilers take on the Panthers.

Mike Ryan, the mayor of Sunrise, Florida, reached out to Sohi via social media and offered yet another “friendly bet.”

“When the Florida Panthers win the Stanley Cup, I’ll give you a Cats jersey to wear at your next big public event,” he said.

“What do you say, Mayor Sohi? Let's go, cats!”

A few hours later, Sohi answered the phone.

He said: “A lot of mayors are wearing Oilers jerseys today, and you're next.”

Smith also placed a bet with Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis on Saturday afternoon.

“Our Edmonton Oilers are going to beat the Florida Panthers, and when we win, will you send some of your finest Florida rum to Alberta so we can celebrate?” she asked.

“If by some miracle the Panthers win the series, then I’ll send some fine Alberta whiskey to Florida.”

DeSantis had not responded to Smith’s bet as of this article’s publication.
