A motorcyclist faces Drive after drunk and other charges, which were filed following a crash north of Peterborough, Ont., early Sunday morning.

Peterborough County OPP Police said a crash occurred on Buckhorn Road in Selwyn Township just after midnight where a motorcyclist was reportedly on the ground.

Officers spotted a dirt bike on the side of the road and another officer was assisting the rider.

The motocross rider was taken by paramedics to Peterborough Regional Health Centre.

Police said officers followed the ambulance to the hospital, found the driver intoxicated and arrested him.

“Due to the rider's poor health and inability to provide a breath sample, police requested a blood sample. However, the rider refused to comply with the police's request,” the Ontario Provincial Police said.

A 33-year-old man from Curve Lake First Nation was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, driving while prohibited, driving while license suspended and failure to comply with a requirement.

The vehicle was impounded for 45 days.

He has been released from custody and is due to appear in Peterborough court on July 9.
