Manitoba spring legislative session ends; about 20 bills expected to pass - Winnipeg | Globalnews.ca

Manitoba politicians are expected to give final approval to about 20 bills Monday before the legislature goes on summer recess.

Among the bills headed for a final vote are one that would make it easier to seize property from criminals and another that would end the province's ban on homegrown recreational marijuana.

Other bills would ban protests near abortion clinics and prohibit convicted sex offenders from changing their names.

Some of the government's agenda will continue into the autumn.

A comprehensive bill to implement the government's budget measures will not be put to a final vote until the Legislature returns to session.

The bill has been criticized by the opposition because it contains many non-budgetary items, such as increased subsidies for political parties and a ban on replacing workers during industrial disputes.
