Kiner-Falefa scores the winning run for the Blue Jays | Globalnews.ca

TORONTO — Isaiah Keener-Falefa hit the winning run in the ninth inning to help the Toronto Blue Jays beat the Baltimore Orioles 3-2 at Rogers Centre on Wednesday.

Keener-Falefa hit the ball off the hands of Orioles right-hander Craig Kimbrel (4-2) into the wall, and Biggio easily ran home from third base.

Justin Turner had three hits for the Blue Jays, leading off a single in the bottom of the ninth inning.

Biggio came on as a pinch runner and reached second base on a base-running error, then reached third on Alejandro Kirk's sacrifice fly.

Imi Garcia (2-0) won cleanly in the ninth inning. Anthony Santander homered for the Orioles (39-21), who lost just their third game in 13 games.

Toronto (29-32) has won six of its last nine games. The Blue Jays beat Baltimore 9-6.

Santander led off the scoring by catching a slow slider from Jose Berrios about 436 feet away. It was his 12th home run of the season.

Cedric Mullins scored another run by walking, stealing second base and scoring on a double by Ramon Urias.

Toronto’s hitters were quiet through the first two games of the series, but finally showed signs of life in the second half of the game.

Albert Suarez walked George Springer, who advanced to third base on Turner's double. Kirk hit a sacrifice fly to get Springer home, and Turner scored on Kiner-Falefa's single.

In the sixth inning, Bo Bichette doubled to give the Blue Jays a chance to take the lead. Kirk singled to right field with two outs, but Bichette was stopped by third base coach Carlos Febles.

Relief pitcher Jacob Weber struck out Keener-Falefa to keep the score tied. Suarez allowed two runs in five innings, allowing five hits and one walk. He had four strikeouts.

Left-hander Tim Mayza came on in the seventh inning to relieve Berrios. The right-hander gave up two runs, six hits and three walks. He struck out two.

Meza recorded two outs before Chad Green came on to catch Adli Rutschmann's fly ball. Green pitched a perfect eighth inning for Toronto.

The published attendance was 27,929 and the race took 2 hours and 32 minutes.

Left-hander Yusei Kikuchi (2-5, 3.66 ERA) is scheduled to start for the Blue Jays on Thursday. The Orioles have not yet announced their starting lineup for the day game.
