Firefighters are currently battling a four-alarm fire at a historic church in Toronto.

Dozens of fire trucks have been dispatched St. Anne's Anglican Church There was what police called a four-alarm fire in the Little Portugal area.

Toronto Fire said they were dispatched to the church on Gladstone Avenue near Dundas Street shortly before 8 a.m. following reports of a fire.

They did not believe anyone was inside the building.

The church was built in 1907-08 in the Byzantine Revival style and was declared a historic site in 1996, according to the church's website.

The church is said to house works by many famous Canadian artists, including three members of the famous Group of Seven.
