Following reports of a two-vehicle crash over the weekend, Estevan RCMP are continuing their investigation with assistance from Saskatchewan RCMP collision reconstruction specialists and the Saskatchewan Coroner’s Service.

The collision happened Saturday evening on the bypass road between Highway 39 and Highway 47 north of Estevan.

“Officers responded along with the Estevan Fire Department and local emergency medical services.investigation “It was determined that a truck collided with a semi-trailer,” police said in a news release.

“The truck driver was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency personnel. The truck driver has been identified and his family has been notified. Per the wishes of his family, his age and hometown information will not be released.”

The driver of the semi was taken to hospital by a STARS helicopter with serious injuries, police said. The passenger of the semi was also taken to hospital by emergency personnel with non-life-threatening injuries.
