From restroom renovation to catering service renovation, Edmonton Moose and the City of Edmonton have introduced a series of improvements Commonwealth Stadium Ahead of the new CFL season.

The Elks and the city say they have spent $2 million on improvements to the football stadium both in front of the fans and behind the scenes.

Those changes include new flooring in lobby restrooms, infrastructure improvements to provide better cellular and Wi-Fi service, and concession stand renovations.

“While these stadium improvements will enhance fan engagement and the visitor experience, as the economic impact of major events on our city continues to grow, the City is looking to the provincial government for a larger investment in stadium infrastructure to ensure modernization efforts can continue to move forward,” said Commonwealth Stadium Director Heather Seutter.

  • Franchise Renovation: The number of venues where food and alcoholic beverages can be purchased has increased to 32.
  • Point of Sale Devices: The new system installed throughout the stadium is designed to reduce waiting times for purchasing food and alcohol.
  • Suite decoration: All 22 Elks Hall suites feature refinished cabinets.
  • In-suite dining: Fans with suites can now order food during all events held at the stadium. Food can also be pre-ordered before an event.
  • Legendary Club Rebranding: The Elks season ticket holder space located in the East Concession has been renamed the Legends Club. The space will showcase EE's great players through photos and game-used items.
  • Family Space: The Elks Family Space, located in the west concession area, will provide a private space for families who want to feed and change diapers. Sensory kits will also be available at the stadium.
  • Building Blocks Children's Area: The team is moving the Brick Kids Zone, previously located at Clark Stadium, into Federal Stadium and opening the space until the start of the third quarter during every game.
  • Jackie Parker's Refresh: The Jackie Parker's restaurant in the west side concession area has been upgraded. It will also have a new projector and screen.
  • New video creation features: Fans will experience an enhanced game-day visual experience, with new in-game production and visual asset capabilities enabling the Elks to enhance game presentations.

Edmonton Moose private ownership search enters shortlist


The upgrade coincides with the 75th anniversary of the Edmonton Football Club and the 45th anniversary of Commonwealth Stadium this year.

“The stadium will continue to host Edmonton Elks games as well as international sporting events, lively concerts and cultural events,” Setter said.

This season, the upper deck of Commonwealth Stadium will be closed during Elks games to allow fans to get closer to the action.
