Road closure remains in effect following vehicle-to-person collision tram Three people were injured in downtown Toronto on Saturday morning.
Police said emergency crews were called to Frederick Street and King Street East At around 9:30 a.m. on June 1, police received reports of a streetcar collision.
While the cause of the collision was not immediately clear, police said the driver of the vehicle involved was taken to hospital with serious injuries and two people on the tram were also injured.
Photos taken at the scene after the collision showed the derailed streetcar hitting a utility pole.
Due to the collision, a section of King Street East was closed from Jarvis Street to Shelburne Street, and a section of Frederick Street East was closed from Adelaide Street to Front Street.
The latest police information is that a 62-year-old man has been charged with careless driving for a Road Traffic Act offence.
Photos taken at the scene on Sunday afternoon showed crews working on surrounding power lines while police taped off parts of the sidewalk and road to the public.
As the road closure remains in place, police ask the public to continue to use alternative routes in the area.
