Halifax police are investigating after a man was allegedly shot by an “unidentified assailant” in Dartmouth on Monday.
Halifax Regional Police said in a social media post that the shooting occurred in the 0-200 block of Coleford Avenue. The man was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

“Police ask the public to stay away from the area while police conduct their investigation,” police said in a statement.
At around 9 a.m. Monday, police set up a cordon at the shooting scene, where a nearby building had obvious bullet holes.
The investigation is said to be in its preliminary stages.
