The City of Winnipeg may have marked the milestone, but the celebrations continue as the community looks back on its 150 years of history.
Two community events will also be held in June to celebrate Winnipeg's 150th anniversary of founding the city.
On June 15, City Councilman Evan Duncan will preside over All-Day Block Party at Charleswood Dog Park The festival starts at 11 a.m., is free, and will feature food trucks, a market square, musical performances and flag football for all football fans.
Soca Reggae Festival will be held at Old Market Square on June 28 and 29. The event will feature live music and performances from a variety of artists and will be held over the Canada Day long weekend.

The celebration honors Winnipeg's heritage On January 19, 1873, the City Council met for the first time. Discuss the procedural issues at the time.
In a previous interview with Global News, Mayor Scott Gillingham expressed his pleasure to be on this side of history.
