Colleen Klein, former Premier of Alberta Ralph Klein died recently after months of declining health.

The couple's daughter, Theresa Klein, announced the news on social media on Tuesday, saying the 83-year-old died peacefully in the early hours of the morning.

“Colleen's presence in our lives was a source of endless love and warmth. Her compassion and dedication to helping others were hallmarks of her character,” Theresa said of her mother in a statement released to media outlets Tuesday night.

In 2005, Queen Elizabeth II visited Ralph and Colleen Cline at the Alberta Legislative Building.

“Although she has left us, Colleen's spirit will live on in the hearts and minds of all who knew her, leaving behind love and cherished memories. She will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.”

Colleen is known for her many charitable causes. Her husband, Ralph, died in 2013.

The family said that at Colleen's request, there will be no memorial service and they hope to protect her privacy during this difficult time.
