A 17-year-old Calgary boy has been charged in connection with a prick Earlier this week, another teenager died.

this Calgary Police Service Police confirmed Saturday that the teen, who cannot be named because of protections under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, has been charged with first-degree murder.

The charges came after police responded to a report of a fight involving a weapon Thursday evening in the southeast Forest Lawn neighborhood.

When police arrived at the scene in the 1300 block of Southeast 41st Street, they found a juvenile suffering from suspected stab wounds.

The teen was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries and was later pronounced dead.

“An autopsy will be performed by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner on Sunday, June 9, 2024,” police said in a news release. “No further information will be released until the autopsy is completed.”

Police said in an update on Saturday that the accused will appear in court again on Monday.

The CPS noted Thursday's incident was Calgary's eighth homicide of 2024.
