Shannon Salter, head of the public service, said in a letter to government employees: hacker Twenty-two email inboxes may have been accessed, some of which contained “sensitive personal information” of 19 people.

“These were employee personnel files, but one employee had family information in his inbox,” Salter said.
“At this point, we are not aware of any sensitive information collected by the government in the provision of public services being accessed.”
Salter said affected residents have been notified.
The investigation found no evidence that specific files were accessed or information was misused. The province will provide credit monitoring and identity protection services for two years to those affected.
The province has previously said it was confident the attack was carried out by “state or state-sponsored actors”.
It did not specify which country was responsible.
The government also defended its withholding of information about the attack until early May, saying it needed to investigate the breach and strengthen defenses before revealing potential weaknesses in the system.
