Brampton man drowns in Muskoka | Globalnews.ca

A Brampton, Ontario man died last weekend after an accident while jet skiing on Mirror Lake in the town of Muskoka Lakes.

At 6pm on Saturday, Bracebridge OPP officers, along with Muskoka Emergency Medical Services and Muskoka Lakes Fire Department, responded to a drowning at a property on Bailey Street in Port Carling.

According to witnesses, a young man was thrown into the water while operating a jet ski and was unable to surface.

Rescuers immediately launched a search and rescue operation and brought the 23-year-old from Brampton to shore, but police said they were unable to save his life.

Police remind people to always wear life jackets when going out to sea.

Police said people should ensure they have the necessary safety equipment on their boats and remember to share their plans with those on land so that information is available to emergency services in the event of trouble.
