As wildfire season approaches, Animal Lifeline Emergency Response Team Horse and livestock transporters are being recruited.
The emergency response team helps evacuate animals in the southern outback during emergencies such as bushfires.
“People don't do this for money, they do it out of the kindness of their hearts,” Emergency Response Team.
“We just want to make sure people and animals are safe because we know if the animals can't evacuate, people won't evacuate, and that's really critical.” The team urged people with animals to be prepared for emergencies.
Anyone who owns a transportation device can take the ALERT course for free, but their vehicle must pass a safety inspection.
Transporters must also have an advanced working knowledge of livestock and pass a criminal record check.
