Air Canada The company said a flight from Toronto to Paris on Wednesday evening had to return to Pearson Airport after experiencing engine failure shortly after takeoff.

The airline said flight AC872, a Boeing 777 with 389 passengers on board, reported engine problems shortly after takeoff and returned to Toronto.

According to the flight status, the plane took off around 8:45 pm and arrived at Pearson Airport at 9:50 pm

“After landing, the aircraft was inspected by the airport emergency vehicle as per normal operating procedures and taxied to the gate,” Air Canada said in a statement to Global News.

The Toronto Airports Authority said the plane landed safely and was greeted by the Toronto Pearson Airport Fire Department.

The airline said there were no reports of injuries.

Air Canada said the aircraft would be taken out of service while it is evaluated by maintenance personnel and engineers.

The airline said passengers were then rescheduled to take off at 1:32 a.m. Thursday.
