Elgin County OPP said six people were taken to the hospital Sunday after a serious two-vehicle crash, including one with life-threatening injuries.

Police say a vehicle with four people on board collided with another vehicle with two people on board near the intersection of Talbot and Ron McNeil lines in Southwold, northwest of St. Thomas, Ont., around 2:35 p.m. Sunday.

Ontario Provincial Police, Southwold Fire Department and Elgin-St. Thomas EMS responded to the scene and rescued two people from the vehicle. Both were taken to hospital, one with life-threatening injuries and the other with non-life-threatening injuries.

The other four people injured in the accident were not in danger of death.

Police added that the investigation is ongoing.
