To start making Goan Poee Recipe – Sourdough Bread Recipe, add all the ingredients listed in a stand-alone mixer. Mix for about five minutes until all ingredients are well combined.
You may choose to put all the ingredients in a bowl, add water a little at a time, and knead into a smooth dough.
Spread a little oil on the surface of the dough and set aside to ferment until doubled in size; about 2 hours.
Once doubled in size, transfer the dough to a flat surface and knock out the air. Divide the dough into 12 equal parts and roll into balls.
Sprinkle the rolled balls over the bran, gently roll into a 3-inch diameter disk, and place on the baking sheet.
Let the bran-sprinkled poee bread rise again for 1 hour.
After the Poee bread has risen, preheat the oven to 220 degrees Celsius for ten minutes. Bake the Goa poi for six to eight minutes until golden brown.
Do not bake for too long or the poe will become brittle and hard.
When done, remove from oven and serve warm.
Serve with Goa Po Goan Style Mushroom Sargoti and Potato Vendalo Goan meal or you can even pair it with continental meal Creamy Pumpkin Soup and Walnut Mushroom Vegetable Bolognese .
