To start making the sweet potato dal recipe, wash the masoor dal in water and soak it in water for about an hour.
in a pressure cooker, add dal, a cup of water and cook on high pressure for about 2 whistles. Set aside.
in a non-stick panadd oil and heat over medium heat.
Add the cumin seeds to the oil and wait for the seeds to disperse.
Now, add green chillies and garlic. Sauté until garlic turns brown.
Gently add the onion slices and sauté until translucent. Add chopped tomatoes and cook until mushy.
Now, add the mentioned spice powders and mix them well.
Add the potato slices and stir until the spices are evenly mixed with the potatoes.
Add water and cook over high heat until potato slices are cooked.
Add the cooked dal to the pan. Adjust the water to your desired consistency.
Add salt to taste. Reduce the heat and cook over medium heat for about 5 minutes until the dal is mixed with the potatoes and spices.Turn off the flame and set aside
Add oil to a small pot. Once the oil is hot, add mustard seeds followed by urad dal and cumin seeds.
Let the mustard seeds sizzle and the cumin seeds turn brown.
Add the tempered oil to the dal and stir. Garnish with coriander leaves.
