To start making the Thai Khao Tom recipe, we will first make the broth by heating 4 cups of water with the black rice, lemongrass, onion, ginger and garlic.
Simmer for 25 minutes. This will be the base of your soup.

Heat a pan with oil, add onions and sauté until brown, set aside.
Check if the black rice is cooked in the broth, the rice will be a little crispy so don't overcook it. Black rice takes about 30 minutes to cook.
